Monday Sector Leaders: Financial, Consumer Products
Looking at the sectors faring best as of midday Monday, shares of Financial companies are outperforming other sectors, higher by 0.7%. Within the sector, E*trade Financial Corporation (NASD: ETFC) and Equinix, Inc (NASD: EQIX) are two large stocks leading the way, showing a gain of 1.8% and 1.7%, respectively. Among financial ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (AMEX: XLF), which is up 0.8% on the day, and down 6.41% year-to-date. E*trade Financial Corporation, meanwhile, is up 9.36% year-to-date, and Equinix, Inc is up 30.35% year-to-date. Combined, ETFC and EQIX make up approximately 0.8% of the underlying holdings of XLF.
