Is The Energy Roller Coaster Ride Coming To An End?
I recently took part in Wood Mackenzie's quarterly in-house debate on risks to the energy industry. The timing was perfect. That week, Brent and WTI crude hit new post-recession lows, before staging incredible two-day rallies. Had the bottom finally been reached, we asked, with a long-awaited recovery to follow, or was this wild volatility a sign of things to come? I wondered if the question was really a metaphor for energy markets as a whole.
