Thursday Sector Leaders: Energy, Materials
The best performing sector as of midday Thursday is the Energy sector, up 5.4%. Within that group, Transocean Ltd. (NYSE: RIG) and Halliburton Company (NYSE: HAL) are two large stocks leading the way, showing a gain of 11.0% and 9.3%, respectively. Among energy ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (AMEX: XLE), which is up 4.7% on the day, and down 17.72% year-to-date. Transocean Ltd., meanwhile, is down 28.10% year-to-date, and Halliburton Company, is down 3.43% year-to-date. Combined, RIG and HAL make up approximately 3.5% of the underlying holdings of XLE.
