Friday Sector Laggards: Financial, Materials
Looking at the sectors faring worst as of midday Friday, shares of Financial companies are underperforming other sectors, showing a 2.1% loss. Within the sector, Prologis Inc (NYSE: PLD) and General Growth Properties Inc (NYSE: GGP) are two large stocks that are lagging, showing a loss of 3.6% and 3.3%, respectively. Among financial ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (AMEX: XLF), which is down 2.4% on the day, and down 7.95% year-to-date. Prologis Inc, meanwhile, is down 13.66% year-to-date, and General Growth Properties Inc, is down 12.19% year-to-date. Combined, PLD and GGP make up approximately 1.2% of the underlying holdings of XLF.
